Spring Business Development Internship

PMF Spring Business Development Internship | Midtown Manhattan
January 11 to April 2, 2027 | Monday through Thursday, 10 AM to 7 PM | 15 Seats Only

"Don't ever let somebody tell you you can't do something. Not even me. You got a dream, you protect it." Chris Gardner, The Pursuit of Happyness

Only 15 Seats This Spring
This spring we are opening just 15 internship seats in our Midtown Manhattan office, and they are reserved for college juniors and seniors who live in New York City or attend a New York City school. When the seats are filled, the class is closed.

Why This Internship?
The entry-level job market is the toughest it has been in years, and thousands of graduates are sending out applications that never get an answer. Our interns skip that line entirely. You will spend the spring on a live sales floor doing real revenue work, earning commission on the deals you help fund, and interns who perform well will be offered a full-time role at the end of the internship.

Internship OTE: $5,000 to $15,000 in commission over the course of the program.

Who We Are?
Premium Merchant Funding is one of the largest brokerage platforms in the alternative lending industry. Twelve years ago we were in one office and today we have 26 offices spread across 4 countries, 100 lender partners, 30+ capital products, more than $7 billion in funded deals, and a new headquarters at 1 New York Plaza. We take pride in the fact that every one of those 26 offices is run by someone who started on the same phones you will be working.

At PMF we fund American businesses when the big banks tell them no. We support restaurants, contractors, trucking companies, clinics, and retailers, the real operators who need capital in days, not quarters.

Why Alternative Lending?
Alternative lending is where the capital went when the banks started pulling back, and it is still growing in 2026. Non-bank capital now funds American businesses that traditional credit will not touch, and that gap widens every time lending standards tighten. It moves faster than investment banking, it pays on execution instead of tenure, and it is one of the few industries where the human being is still the product. Business owners are not talking through their capital needs with a machine, and our relationships are not getting automated.

What You'll Do?
Open and Close: You will make high-volume outbound contact with business owners every day by phone, email, and social outreach, opening conversations with strangers and moving qualified owners toward a funded deal.
Work the CRM: You will manage your pipeline, track every contact, and keep your files organized in a professional CRM, the same way our full-time brokers run their desks.
Build Relationships: You will earn the trust of business owners quickly and stay in contact with them from the first call through funding, because funded clients come back and refer others.
Speak the Language of Business: You will work with revenue, cash flow, time in business, and use of funds every day, and you will learn to read what makes a business fundable.
Hit the Number: You will be measured on consistent daily activity and qualified applications, and the scoreboard is public and honest.

What We're Looking For?
A college junior or senior who lives in New York City or attends a New York City school.
A GPA of 2.8 or higher.
Availability Monday through Thursday, 10 AM to 7 PM, from January 11 to April 2, 2027.
Professional verbal and written communication in English.
Resilience, because you will hear no far more often than yes, and the desk belongs to the people who keep dialing.
A competitive, goal-oriented mindset. No finance major is required; curiosity is.

Who Thrives Here?
Student athletes, campus leaders, and anyone who has worked a job where performance was the only scoreboard. If you have held peers accountable, led a room, or worked the door, the phone, or the floor, you already think like someone who belongs here.
