Software & Systems Engineering Intern
PYRAMID SOLUTIONS
Software & Systems Engineering Intern
Pyramid Solutions is seeking a motivated and technically curious Software & Systems Engineering Intern to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in software development and enjoys coding but is equally interested in understanding how software is integrated, configured, deployed, and supported in real-world customer environments. This internship provides hands-on exposure to software development, systems engineering, integration, troubleshooting, and customer solution implementation, with the potential to grow into a full-time engineering role based on performance and business needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with the design, development, testing, debugging, and maintenance of software applications and components.
Write clean, maintainable code and develop scripts, utilities, or tools to solve technical problems and automate processes.
Work with engineers to install, configure, integrate, test, and troubleshoot Pyramid software in lab and customer environments.
Learn how applications interact with databases, APIs, operating systems, networks, and other enterprise technologies.
Review logs, configurations, and system behavior to help identify root causes and resolve technical issues.
Participate in software testing, solution validation, technical documentation, and code reviews.
Work along with experienced engineers to understand customer requirements and assist with implementation projects.
Communicate technical information clearly and professionally with both technical and non-technical team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related technical field.
Demonstrated coding experience through coursework, internships, personal projects, hackathons, open-source contributions, or previous employment.
Experience with at least one programming language and a solid understanding of fundamental programming and object-oriented concepts.
Experience with C#, Java, and/or SQL is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with Git/source control, REST APIs, relational databases, Linux, Windows, cloud platforms, or networking is a plus.
Strong analytical, logical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
Excellent communication, teamwork, attention to detail, initiative, and follow-through.
Flexible and willing to work across software development, systems engineering, integration, and implementation activities.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are less concerned about whether a candidate already knows every technology we use and more interested in how they think and learn. The strongest candidates enjoy building things, ask good questions, independently work toward answers, and are willing to dig into unfamiliar technology. They should be interested in understanding the entire solution, not just their piece of code, and comfortable moving between development, testing, troubleshooting, integration, and implementation.
WHAT YOU'LL GAIN
Hands-on experience with commercial software and real-world technical problems.
Exposure to the complete software lifecycle, from development and testing through deployment and customer use.
Experience across software, systems, databases, APIs, networking, integration, and enterprise environments.
Mentoring from experienced engineers and the opportunity to explore multiple engineering career paths.
