Reuters News Applications Internship - New York 2026

The Program:
Reuters offers talented students and graduates with an interest in journalism an opportunity to learn at the world’s largest international news agency.

Our global Reuters News Internship Program gives you the chance to fast-track your journalism career and develop your skills across a variety of subjects and media. We welcome passionate and curious reporters, producers, photojournalists and data specialists who want to tell stories for a global audience. Reuters seeks diverse candidates from all backgrounds and is excited to work with emerging talent who can cover breaking news and tell in-depth stories from new perspectives.

This opportunity offers a student from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism the opportunity to intern with the Reuters News Applications Desk in New York.

The News Applications Desk is an editorial team focused on creating dynamic dashboards, interactive databases and automated insights that benefit clients, inform readers, empower reporters and serve the public interest. The initiative aims to publish timely, trustworthy resources that lead to greater understanding of the world’s most pressing issues.

The intern will have the opportunity to develop software systems that gather, refine, enrich and publish data for a global audience. That could include the creation of:

  • A collection of charts, maps and tables that presents a comprehensive, high-level, real-time view of a single topic.
  • A tailored website that allows readers to explore a newsworthy database.
  • A data pipeline that monitors data feeds, discovers tips and drafts templated content.

Interns will find opportunities to partner with Reuters editors and reporters worldwide. That will include working with members of the newsroom’s other data journalism groups, such as its award-winning analysis team and its globe-spanning graphics desk.

This work requires blending skills from journalism, computer programming and product design. Ideal participants bring interest and experience in more than one of those areas. The strongest applicants will be able to demonstrate experience creating data-driven applications for the general public.

The role:

  • Paid 12-week internship, starting from 21st June, 2027
  • An assigned Senior Editor as a mentor
  • Formal training and coaching
  • Participants who excel may be considered for future opportunities at Reuters
