  • Tax interns are involved in the preparation of various Forms 1099 and Payroll Returns, Forms W-2, W-3 and Form 1040 for individual tax returns and other income tax returns as appropriate.
  • To prepare these forms, the intern will also be reviewing and analyzing documents provided by clients to gather the necessary and required information.
  • Also included will be learning the organization of work papers in a file that supports the forms prepared.
  • Interns are supervised on all work by professional staff and provided feedback on any needed corrections to the forms prepared.

 

The internship is paid and we require 40 hours/week – Monday through Friday.

 Formal Training Program:

  • Interns are assigned a buddy to assist in the training process and to be available for questions.
  • You are introduced via a tutorial to the tax software used by the firm.
  • You will receive detailed instructions to prepare the forms.
  • You are included in all Tax Department meetings and any in-house training.
  • You will attend our annual Tax-Season Kick-Off Meeting to learn expectations and guides for the upcoming Tax Season.
  • Work is divided and assigned based on level of difficulty so that the appropriate experienced staff is matched to a level of return that the intern is capable of preparing.
  • Interns are expected to provide a weekly journal to Tax Team Leaders that describe their experiences on an on-going basis.

Qualifications: All interns must be pursuing a college degree with a major in accounting or other related business field and have from zero to three years’ experience. All interns must be proficient in MS Office, Adobe, and be comfortable working in a paperless environment. Also, interns will have an interest in becoming certified in public accounting. In addition, interns must be self-motivated, energetic, conscientious, and must pay particular attention to detail.
