MEP Engineering - Summer Internship
Z Modular, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking an MEP Engineering Intern for our facility located in Troy, MI. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this candidate will support the design and engineering department. Full time, physical attendance is required at the Troy, MI office.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this position, the team member is responsible for assisting in the preparation of structural plans, sections, elevations, details, as well as, other drafting tasks under the direction and supervision of a Project Engineer. In performing these tasks the team member will be expected to gain technical knowledge in the modular design and factory construction as well as seeing the integration into the site environment.
The team member must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, quickly learn new and unfamiliar concepts and tasks, collaborate with other individuals in a constructive and effective manner, and meet strict deadlines and manage competing priorities, with quality of work.
Supports any number of projects at various stages of work, including:
- Preparing shop drawings for plant fabrication using Revit
- Preparing specific details for both shop installation as well as site built conditions
- Provide calculations for designs
- Researching codes and other standards as necessary for compliance
- Join team members on occasion for onsite observation of work which would include travel to the states of Arizona and Texas
- Participate in weekly design meetings
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of junior year of mechanical, electrical, or architectural engineering program
- GPA of at least 3.0 is required
- Basic knowledge and experience with Revit
- Basic knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, databases (Microsoft Office)
