CORPORATE DEVELOPMENT INTERN
SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN – WORLD HEADQUARTERS
As a member of the Strategy & Corporate Development Office, the Corporate Development Intern will play a key role in sourcing, evaluating, structuring and negotiating transactions for Lear. Additionally, the Intern will be responsible for inbound and outbound investment and new development activities, including board deck preparation, financial modeling, market research, valuation analysis, due diligence and deal closing activities.
The Role:
Your work will include, but not be limited to:
- Support execution against a portfolio of deals across acquisitions & divestitures, joint ventures, alliances/partnerships, and other innovative deal structures that will support Lear leadership in its core business areas and drive value creation
- Perform periodic market research around key issues and topics that are impacting the Company
- Support analysis of new opportunities in new/existing markets & ongoing assessment of strategic options
- Participate in sourcing, screening and proposing investment, partnerships/joint ventures and M&A opportunities
- Perform financial modeling and analysis of acquisition targets, including valuation and financial statement analysis, NPV, and discounted cash flow analysis
- Assist with developing presentations and analysis for senior management to make key investment decisions
- Work cross functionally to align strategy with partners and key constituents across business units
- Perform peer benchmarking analyses
Your Qualifications:
- Career interests in one of or more of the following: corporate development, investment banking, private equity, management consultant, entrepreneurship, public accounting
- Undergraduate business major candidates - Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Business Administration
- Outstanding critical thinking and oral and written communication skills
- Fundamental understanding of 3-way statements, financial modeling, and enterprise valuation methodologies
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience working on complex problems and using data to develop solutions
- Ability to communicate complex topics in concise, easy-to-understand format
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while striving for perfection
- Advanced skills and experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
