Tenneco is seeking a driven, self-motivated Purchasing focused student who has an interest in gaining hands-on experience.

This position supports the DRiV division and will sit in our Southfield, MI facility. This role will be onsite. This is a summer internship with the potential to extend.

Possible responsibilities include:

  • Enhance data availability capabilities through spend classification improvement, supplier databases building, category strategy assistance, and various system supporting activities.
  • Support typical purchasing activities such as benchmarking and data analyses.
  • Supplier management projects (New part introductions, RFQ’s, negotiation and resourcing)
  • Assist with inventory management related initiatives for purchasing around vendor managed inventory, MOQ reductions, pack at source, and late shipment reduction.

Required of an Intern:

  • Must be able to work independently and in a team based environment
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Student currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
  • Student with a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship period May – August 2024
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Student currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in supply chain, supply chain management, or engineering (with a focus in supply chain or supply chain management) from an accredited institution
  • Student with a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Student with SAP experience
