Chemical Engineering Intern

As a Chemical Engineer Intern, you will work with our current team on projects throughout the summer. You will also participate in our Intern Program with various classes offered throughout the internship.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist engineering and coordinate with internal teams on a variety of products and processes, including engineering specifications, drawings, models, manuals, processes, or bill of materials.
  • Research, investigate, and select technical data pertinent to the assigned project.
  • Work with internal teams and external sources to obtain and communicate data relative to engineering requirements.
  • May be involved in the bid process.
  • Write test plans, conduct tests, and document results.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and recommendations on projects.
  • Participate in department improvement activities.
  • May be asked to interact with customers to install, monitor, troubleshoot, or repair products.
  • Demonstrates the Viaflex Team Member Values in their daily actions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • May be called upon to perform comparable duties of a similar or related nature and/or assist in other areas as needed.
  • Learning, understanding, continuously improving, and promoting the division’s quality management system in accordance with ISO standards.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Working toward a degree of relevance to this role is preferred. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Specific skills, proficiencies, and knowledge in field related to position, as identified by department leadership. Knowledge of manufacturing techniques is preferred. Basic problem analysis and problem-solving techniques. Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office. Team player who is self-motivated and has ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work at a fast pace efficiently. Ability to read drawings and work instructions and maintain accurate records. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff. Travel may be necessary, based on position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

Physical Requirements: Required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Working Conditions: Exposure to a normal office environment. Position may occasionally require entering a production environment, including exposure to noise, fumes, moving machinery, and varied temperatures.
