HSE Intern - Training

Plains All American (PAA) is an industry-leading transportation and midstream provider specializing in transportation, storage, processing and marketing solutions for crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs). We own an extensive network of pipeline transportation, terminalling, storage and gathering assets in key crude oil and NGL producing basins and transportation corridors and at major market hubs in the United States and Canada. On average, PAA handles more than 6 million barrels per day of crude oil and NGL in its Transportation segment. The company is headquartered in Houston, Texas.

Plains’ Intern Program is an opportunity to get hands on experience and education which is aligned with each student’s degree, in the oil and gas midstream sector.  Plains’ intern opportunities have been specifically designed to provide students the opportunity to apply their academic studies and gain valuable experience through meaningful and challenging work. Plains offers one of the industry’s best formal training programs in which high achieving participants may become eligible to receive an offer to join Plains upon graduation. 

 

HSE Intern - Training

 

Plains has a great opportunity for a highly motivated student to join our Training Team for a 13-week internship in our Houston office, beginning May 20, 2024.  The Plains Internship Program will provide exceptional students interested in the oil and gas industry an opportunity to continue their professional development with the best in the business. Responsibilities

  • Gain an understanding of:
    • oil and gas midstream industry
    • Health Safety and Environmental practices
    • Training management processes
  • Aid and support the training management process including record management and media file organization.
  • Support process improvements for current training management processes and practices
  • Gather and compile data to support our objectives
  • Assist with training document and media management
  • Other duties and special projects, as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Interns must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree at an accredited university
  • Previous internships are considered an asset
  • Ideal candidates are analytical, creative, connected, and entrepreneurial
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Comfortable with virtual collaboration and meeting software, including MS Teams
  • Ability to take initiative and the confidence to make suggestions for improvement
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid interpersonal skills that support collaboration and productive working relationships
  • Strong planning, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Strong desire to learn the Oil & Gas business
  • Proven flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing business conditions
  • Ability adapt and demonstrate flexibility in a fast-paced environment
  • Interns must be able and willing to relocate themselves to Houston for the duration of the work term
  • Interns must be able to commit to a 13-week work term starting May 20, 2024, to be considered for the program
  • The successful candidate must comply with the Company’s Drug & Alcohol Policy including pre-employment testing
  • The successful candidate must provide satisfactory references and complete a Criminal Background Check.
