Digital Communications & Marketing Intern

The City of Olathe’s Communication & Marketing Division is seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join our team as a Digital Communications & Marketing Intern. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital communications, marketing, and public relations within the context of municipal government operations. The successful candidate will work closely with our communications and marketing team to enhance the organization's online presence, engage with the community, and support various digital marketing initiatives.

The Communications & Marketing Intern in responsible for working closely with the communications and marketing team to enhance the organization's online presence.

Key Responsibilities
Creates and curates engaging content for various social media platforms; schedules and monitors social media posts to ensure consistent and timely updates; monitors social media channels for community feedback and responds appropriately.

Assists in the development of multimedia content, including graphics, photos, videos, and infographics for digital platforms; collaborates with team members to generate compelling and informative content for newsletters, website updates, and other digital channels.

Updates and maintains content on the organization's website to ensure accuracy and relevance; assists in optimizing website content for search engines (SEO) to enhance online visibility.

Contributes to the planning and execution of digital marketing campaigns to promote municipal initiatives, events, and services; tracks and analyzes key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of digital campaigns.

Compiles and analyzes data related to digital communications and marketing efforts; prepares regular reports summarizing key metrics and insights to inform future strategies.

 

Qualifications

Experience: One year of digital communications and marketing experience is required, including experience with various social media platforms. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office basic functions, Microsoft Suite and Adobe Suite, are also required along with strong customer service, time management, and organization skills. One year of Various Social Media Platforms experience.
