Communications Intern
Position Overview
Novelis Oswego has an exciting opportunity for a Communications Intern. Are you a strong writer with a nose for social media and a love for events? This is the position for you! You will assist in internal communications to align our plant team and share our plant’s stories within Novelis North America, and with external communications to position our company in the local community. You will also support social media content creation for Novelis on a regional and global level. The communications intern will also participate in event planning and execution, support our employee resource groups and help out with corporate social responsibility. This position offers a broad view of communications duties and no two days will be exactly the same.
Responsibilities
- Generate content for social media channels that support Oswego plant as an employer and supplier of choice.
- Write for internal communications including newsletters, intranet, PowerPoint presentations and content for digital screens throughout the plant.
- Support external communications including press releases and mailers.
- Assist in planning and executing events including annual Harborfest activities, support of sponsored events like golf tournaments and races, tabling at Farmers Markets and other community involvement.
- Assist with communications strategy and execution for Novelis’ employee resource groups.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in a 4 year accredited program studying Communications or a related field.
- Strong writing skills, manufacturing specific experience not required.
- Strong organizational skills to enable effective event planning and workload prioritization.
- Familiarity with social media channels, specifically Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Design and layout skills using Canva.
- Skilled with Microsoft Office suite.
