Research Intern - Art, Design, and Media

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join our dynamic research center as a Research Intern. This internship offers a unique opportunity to be part of a Centre of Excellence dedicated to advancing methods and techniques in Art, Design, and Media research. As a key member of our team, the intern will contribute to ongoing projects within the domains of Creative Practices in Health and Wellbeing, Physical and Digital Making: Theory and Practice, and Social, Cultural, and Philosophical Narratives.

 

Possible Responsibilities

  • Contribute to Research Projects: Actively participate in ongoing research initiatives, collaborating with experienced researchers to contribute valuable insights and support the development of new methods and techniques.
  • Literature Review and Analysis: Conduct comprehensive literature reviews related to the research domains, staying informed about the latest advancements and contributing to the critical analysis of existing literature.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Assist in the collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, utilizing various research methodologies relevant to the specific projects.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Document research findings, contribute to the preparation of reports, and assist in the creation of publications or presentations for dissemination to academic and non-academic audiences.
  • Collaboration and Networking: Actively engage in collaborative activities within the research center, fostering connections with fellow interns, researchers, and industry professionals. Attend seminars, workshops, and conferences to expand networks and stay informed about current trends.

 

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate program in Art, Design, Media, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary research and the application of creative practices in diverse domains.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient in research methodologies and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment.

 

About the Organization 

Centre of excellence whose researchers are involved in the development of new methods and techniques for research in Art, Design and Media. The generation and application of these has produced new insights in the creation of designs, works of art, film and media that contribute to social, environmental, cultural and economic well-being regionally, nationally and internationally. Research activity takes place across three broad domains: Creative Practices in Health and Wellbeing Physical and Digital Making: Theory and Practice Social, Cultural and Philosophical Narratives. Our research strategy focuses on the origination and generation of ideas and knowledge through practice, reflection and dialogue and its dissemination to other academics, practitioners, end users, commerce, industries, NGOs and governments. The centre actively supports and develops collaborative clusters to undertake large-scale research programmes as well as continuing support of the lone scholar. We are the only non-STEM organisation to have been recognized as a Centre of Industrial Collaboration by the European Union.

 

On-site Supervision and Support

Our internships include 24/7 on-site staff to support students working and living abroad. All students will also report to a supervisor at their internship site. Supervisors provide and oversee daily tasks, introduce the intern to team members, and mentor the intern in organizational agility, skill acquisition, and career readiness. Interns complete a midpoint and final evaluation, and supervisors complete a final evaluation of their interns. All work responsibilities and projects are approved in advance. 
 

Academic Credit

Students on an internship have the opportunity to enroll in their home university for credit, or enroll in a course through API to transfer back to their university for credit. Email support-internships@apiexperience.com for more information and a syllabus.

 

Housing and Excursions

Housing and excursions are included in your internship and will be selectable during the application process.
