IT Technical Specialist Intern

JOB SUMMARY

The IT Intern will support our in-house IT department in providing technical assistance, maintaining computer systems, and configuring hardware and software. The IT Intern position is a great opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the field of information technology. Interns will work on a variety of projects.

 

Information Technology (IT) Intern Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with providing technical assistance to staff and customers on hardware such as Laptop, Desktops, iPads, Cell Phones and Printers
  • Basic end-user support to prevent customer service delays for basic technical issues.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot computer systems, hardware, and software
  • Assist with new users/remove users in Active Directory
  • Assist in the maintenance of IT standards and documentation
  • Follow established procedures and processes for computer maintenance
  • Researching new technologies and tools
  • Complete other projects as assigned

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides technical support for employees onsite or remotely.
  • Assists installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment duties in the office and on the manufacturing floor.
  • Responds to and assigns service request tickets following Standard Operating Procedures and best practices.
  • Assists in hardware and software deployments following service and asset management procedures and policies.
  • Assist with managing IT incident escalations from Tier 1 Help Desk following Standard Operating Procedures and best practices.
  • Escalates IT infrastructure issues and provides timely response to customer escalations.
  • Documents problem-solving processes, troubleshooting activities, and verification of fix in the Service Management tool through final resolution.
  • Applies diagnostic tools to aid in troubleshooting.
  • Follows service management standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist with updating and revising knowledge articles.
  • Interacts positively and seeks guidance from other members of the IT teams.
  • Performs other duties as they might be assigned.

 

Information Technology (IT) Intern Requirements and Qualifications

  • 3rd or 4th year enrolled in a college or university degree program in information technology or a related field
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software
  • Knowledge of network and system security
  • Familiarity with hardware and software installation
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to learn quickly and adapt to changing technology

 

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / COMPETENCIES

  • Enrolled in a college or university degree program in information technology or a related field
  • Strong technical skills, including experience with Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong Microsoft Office knowledge
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
