Job Summary

The Photonics, Imaging, and X-ray (PIX) Intern will gain experience using programming, statistics, and data science to build pipelines for machine learning applications. Additionally, exposure to real-world data (from various measured and simulated sources), and the associated difficulties of working with such data, will be provided through the internship.

Sample projects include using machine learning to improve the statistics in radiation simulations, and accelerating simulations by using machine-learning based biasing techniques.

The successful internship will conclude with the intern having learned the ML development lifecycle through implementation of new projects.

Please note, this is a 6-month co-op/internship program.

Responsibilities

Some of the things you'll be doing include:

  • Reviewing literature to identify appropriate machine learning models
  • Designing and implement machine learning models using modern frameworks and best practices
  • Working with varied real-world datasets to train the machine learning models
  • Analyzing, evaluating, and documenting your findings

Education, Experience and Skills

  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Physics, Data Science, Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Ability to research, implement, and document software design 
  • Excellent communication skills

The salary range for jobs which are performed in US, Massachusetts is $20.00 to $40.00 per hour. Please note that the salary range is a guideline and compensation may vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and work location.
