Part Time, 10-15 hours per week

Brilliant Detroit Overview 
In 2015 Brilliant Detroit was created to provide a radically new approach to kindergarten readiness in neighborhoods. The idea was to create a unique delivery model in our approach to early childhood development by using underutilized housing stock to create early child and family centers in neighborhoods. Brilliant Detroit homes provide holistic services for kids 0-8 predicated on evidence-based programs around health, family support, and education. Brilliant Detroit was born to create kid success neighborhoods. Today, in each location, neighbors come together for fellowship, activities and learning to assure school readiness, and provide needed support for families

 

Job Summary
The Communications Strategy and Media Intern will highlight Brilliant Detroit’s story and mission by capturing content at events and programs as well as influence our overall communications strategy and campaigns. This position will serve in the Administrative Department and report to the Social Media and Brand Ambassador. This work will be done in accordance with the core principles of our Detroit-based non-profit team:

Evidence-based programs are coordinated together to meet the goals and needs of participants continuously throughout early childhood.

Brilliant Detroit offers opportunities for people to connect and build community as neighbors regardless of the zip code in which they live.

 

 

Activities and Responsibilities: 

  • Help design and execute themed campaigns.
  • Capture photo, video, and interview content at Brilliant Detroit events and programs.
  • Create scripts, storyboards, and other planning materials for campaigns and series. Examples include video spotlights, podcasts, or program recaps.
  • Assure that produced content follows the Brilliant Detroit brand guidelines and stays true to our monthly themes and campaign goals.


 

Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge and interest in marketing, social media, and audio and video production
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects
  • Demonstrated superior customer service skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and strong critical and creative thinking skills
  • Strong, demonstrated technological proficiency with Google Drive, especially Google Sheets
  • Language: English required, Spanish desirable
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and social media analytics desired
