Environmental Intern
DLZ Michigan, Inc. is seeking candidates for an Environmental Intern position in our Lansing or Kalamazoo, Michigan. Interns will be assisting staff at Fort Custer Training Center in Augusta, MI with vegetation assessments and herpetological surveys in wetlands and training areas located on base.
Job Duties:
- Assist with surface water and wetland investigations.
- Field and desktop data collection
- Various field and office tasks related to planning, civil engineering, and landscape architecture.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Recent graduate or senior enrolled in a degree program for environmental sciences, fisheries & wildlife, plant sciences, or other relevant major
- Ability to identify fish, amphibians, reptiles, and mammals.
- Ability to identify a wide variety of plants and trees.
- Willingness & ability to quickly learn new tasks and procedures/critical thinking.
- Ability to self-motivate and work productively with limited supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and ArcGIS
This position will be flexible on a part-time basis during the 2024 academic year.
