Length of Internship:  May 6, 2024 - August 30, 2024 (end date flexible)

Hours are flexible, up to 40 hours per week

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

 

The Marketing & Communications Intern will support the Public Affairs and Community Engagement department in a variety of marketing projects and programs to enhance the Agency’s reputation, increase use of its services, and deliver a high level of customer satisfaction. This position will provide project management support to the department in development of communications, informational materials, social media, public and media engagement, paid media, production, and general administrative/operations tasks.

 

 

Accountabilities and Essential Functions:

  1. Provide project management support for marketing campaigns and paid media campaigns
    • Facilitate creative development and reviews
    • Coordinate paid media plans to ensure all assets are developed and trafficked accordingly 
  2. Monitor and assist with social media
    • Monitor social media and work with internal team on draft responses to customer concerns/comments
    • Develop social media content calendar to encourage ridership
    • Post content as needed, directed by internal team, including but not limited to service alerts, weekly photos, events, community posts
  3. Coordinate customer communications and assist with public relations
    • Coordinate internal review process of press releases 
    • Coordinate the issuance of press releases to key media and stakeholders
    • Monitor media regarding Agency
    • Assist with the execution of monthly newsletters including issuing to stakeholders and posting to website
    • Maintain and update contact lists for key media, stakeholders, and local political positions
    • Track media engagement
    • Assist in updating website for important customer communications such as service updates and Service Alerts
  4. Support public engagement
    • Assist team in coordination of public engagement meetings and supplies, including but not limited to preparing for meetings, attending meetings, and coordination of meetings
  5. Ensure that department purchases are timely, accurate and adhere to agency policies
    • Coordinate purchases between department personnel and vendors
    • Arrange meetings and document meeting outcomes
    • Order department office supplies
    • Process requests for publications from the public
  6. Provide general administrative support and perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student or recent graduate in Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations
  • Basic knowledge, understanding and use of social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and TikTok
  • Passion for marketing, social media, public relations, public transit
  • Hands-on experience with web content editing and CMS platforms
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to work under pressure and within strict timelines
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of TheRide system preferred
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design software (Adobe Acrobat Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign) A PLUS
