Job Description:

SK Siltron CSS has a unique opportunity at our Bay City site for a Wafering Engineering Intern for the summer of 2024.

Project Summary:

This is a short-term project to document the cycle time and capacity of the wafering manufacturing process.

  1. Problem status check (0.25 weeks)
    • OJT of Part-to-Part capacity study method.
  2. Issue and Goal defined (0.25 week)
    • Check segment capacity as currently documented in the capacity modeling tool.
  3. Measure (4 weeks)
    • Study machine cycle times and throughput for Grind, MWS, Polish and Metrology Operations at the Auburn Manufacturing Facility
  4. Analysis (1 weeks)
    • Determine bottleneck operations for each manufacturing segment.
  5. Improve (0.5 weeks)
    • Identify and document any observed areas for improvement.
  6. Control and final reporting (2 weeks)
    • Update and verify the capacity modeling tool.
    • Make recommendations for Bay City wafering line equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Document process capacity using the Capacity Modeling Tool
  • Hands-on measuring process capacity with suggestions for improvement
  • Work with Process Engineering, Operations, and other organizations to support best performance, safety, environment, quality, and efficiency data driven
  • What-if analysis of machine quantities at various volume scenarios

Physical Requirements:

S-Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Sophomore or later student in B.S program for Industrial engineering, Chemical, Physics, Materials Science, Electrical or engineering related degree preferred.
  • ​Excellent written and verbal communication skills with MS office.
