What is GenSpark?

GenSpark bridges the gap of the ever-happening conundrum of not being able to get a job post-graduation due to not having experience and not being able to get experience because graduates cannot get a job. At GenSpark we hire college grads and Alumni’s, provide them with job-ready technical training, and offer opportunities with our clients. We invest in our GenSpark employees by providing in depth training with hands on experience on real life projects for their first 10-12 weeks with GenSpark and provide soft skill training to help them transition from theoretical knowledge to career applicable experience and know how to easily answer questions from technical people. After training, GenSparkians work on actual IT projects for and with our clients. We really believe that the emphasis on training and real experience provides the perfect platform to help students launch careers in IT. 

How does this work?

GenSpark works with their partners to bridge the skills gap in technology by training individuals in technologies specific to a client and training you on those technologies so that you can hit the ground running when you are working on a client's project. 

We streamline your Tech Career by using your practical knowledge and combine it with our hands-on training on one of the many Tech stacks such as: .Net, Java, AWS, Cybersecurity, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and many more. Then, we provide soft skill training to help ace the interviews for your dream job and lastly, we provide mentorship and guidance throughout all the entire process! Think of it as having a bigger sibling that's been there done that! No greater way to get ahead quicker then to have the know how!

Steps to apply and process:

  1. Apply to our Entry Level Java training
    1. At no cost to you (yes, you read that right, free training)
    2. Training is virtual.
    3. Our Sourcers will speak to you about the opportunity and give you all the details of the project and training.
    4. You will take an assessment to gauge your technical strengths.
    5. Our recruiters will reach out and go over process once again and ask you technical questions, reconfirm process and answer any questions you may have. 
    6. If you qualify, our recruiters will work to get you onboarded.
  2. Onboarding:
    1. Paper work 
    2. Credentials for training
  3. Technical Training
    1. Monday through Friday 9-5 Est for 8 weeks completely virtual
  4. Soft skills training
    1. Our amazing team will help you with soft skills training, how to take the practical knowledge from school and the technical skills from our training and translate that to technical jargon, so a technical person can understand.
  5. Post training
    1. Will work full time with and for our client projects

What are we looking for?

We are looking for potential GenSparkers with a STEM background looking to translate that knowledge gained in your college/university career and compound that with our state-of-the-art technology training that we call (Hire, Train and Deploy model) to get you job ready in 12 weeks. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for recent college graduates with a Computer Science or Information Technology degree, Veterans with relevant experience, or individuals with a background in IT looking to upskill.

 

What is a Java Developer?

Java developers are responsible for developing software, websites, and applications using Java. 

What Does a Java Developer Do and what you will learn to do in our 12 week training?

In our rigorous 12 week training, we take what you have learned in school or self taught and combine that with our training to get you well acquainted with all the areas to be a successful Java developer. Then we take it up a notch by teaching you what sub technologies that our clients use, so you can easily transition into Java roles with our clients and be successful from the moment you start! 

What you will learn to do: 

  • Developing Code
    • Throughout your time as a developer, you will continuously develop code in Java. You may use this code in a new project, ongoing updates for an existing project, or bug fixes.
  • Testing Code
    • Once you’ve written code, you will need to test it  to identify potential issues. Your employer may expect you to perform a range of rests on your code, including functionality testing, static code testing, unit testing, and single-user performance testing. 
  • Deploying Code
    • As a Java developer, you will need to deploy code to deliver it to users successfully.
  • Debugging Software Problems
    • As no project is ever perfect, Java developers are responsible for resolving errors in their programs., you will need to diagnose problems, develop a solution, and deploy that solution. 
  • Understanding Program Architecture
    • Understanding program architecture is crucial, as it’ll inform how you develop new projects.
  • Preparing Updates
    • As developers must update programs to ensure they’re functional and secure, you need to develop regular updates. You will need to plan, design, test, deploy, and collect user feedback on the update to build efficiently. 
  • Preparing End-User Documentation
    • As you will understand your project intimately as a developer, your employer will expect you to develop end-user documentation to help people use your program. This documentation includes installation guides, user manuals, release notes, and training manuals.

 

Job Requirements:

  • BS/BA required with 3.0 GPA or Higher
  • Open to relocation (We provide relocation reimbursement up to $TBD)
  • Previous experience in object-oriented programming, Java, .Net, or Python helpful, not required
  • Strong skills in communication, motivation and self-discipline
