Postdoctoral Fellow- Mass Spectrometry Based Multi-Omics Research for Bioprocess Development

Our Research Laboratories’ Postdoctoral Research Fellow Program aims to be a best-in- industry program for industrial postdoctoral researchers, designed to provide you with an academic focus in a commercial environment. With the resources, reach, and expertise of a large pharmaceutical company, postdoctoral researchers will be positioned to excel in an institution committed to breakthrough innovation in research and discovery.

Position Overview:

The Analytical Enabling Capability Mass Spectrometry team within Analytical Research and Development department is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow with technical expertise on LC-MS based multi-omics techniques for enhanced understanding of biopharmaceutical process development. The ideal candidate will have a background in biochemistry, or analytical chemistry or similar majors with extensive hands-on LC-MS experience. The candidate will be the primary driver for exploration, development and implementation of various MS based multiomics tools (e.g., proteomics, metabolomics, and metabolic flux analysis) for systems biology of bioprocess development at both bulk and single-cell scale. The responsibilities will entail establishing robust sample preparation protocols and developing untargeted and targeted MS acquisition methods suited for multi-omics analysis of industry relevant samples directly derived from biologics or vaccines production. As a member of the Analytical Research and Development (AR&D) department, the postdoctoral fellow will be co-mentored by a seasoned scientist from the Process Research and Development (PR&D) department. The candidate will be exposed to unique laboratory environments at our company with top capabilities, equipment, expertise and knowledge for drug discovery and development.

The postdoctoral fellow will work with a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary team of scientists utilizing state-of-the-art instrumentation supporting bioprocess and bioproduct development.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Evaluate, build and implement novel sample preparation protocols, LC-MS/MS based multi-omics tools and data analysis solutions supporting bioprocess development for both bulk and single cell analysis.

Develop various multi-omics workflows for identification and quantification of cellular metabolites and proteins.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve scientific and technical challenges.

Present scientific data at internal and external meetings; publish in high quality peer- review journals.

Education Minimum Requirement:

Candidates must currently hold a PhD OR receive a PhD in the next year.

Required Experience and Skills:

Excellent skills in experimental design, implementation, troubleshooting, and data analysis

In-depth knowledge and experience with mass spectrometry principles and applications

Hands-on experience with multiple MS acquisition methods (e.g. DDA, DIA, PRM, MRM) and quantitation strategies (e.g. isotopic labeling, label-free)

Direct experience with LC-MS based proteomics, and/or metabolomics, and/or metabolic flux analysis

Excellent collaboration, communication, and presentation skills as demonstrated through high impact scientific publications and presentations.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

Familiarity with R or other programming language for data processing, statistical analysis, visualization, and integration of multi-omics data

Experience with cell culture and recombinant protein expression and purification.

Basic understanding of biopharmaceutical development
