Communications Assistant
Hourly Rate: $16.00
Duration of Assignment: May, 15, 2023 – Aug. 15, 2023 (or earlier if available)
Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Office of Communications, and will be located at 1659 E. Elm, Jefferson City, Missouri.

What you’ll do:
- Review and edit news releases, publications, website content.
- Assist in preparing external messaging, such as news releases, social media posts, speaking points and presentations.
- Serve as a member of various committees, such as Earth Day and state fair.
- Provide livestreaming, video and photo support as needed
Professional Experience to be Gained:
- Writing news releases.
- Working with media.
- Public speaking skills.
- Interviewing subject experts for news releases.
- Video editing, script writing.
- Representing Missouri State Parks at various events.
All you need for success:
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of AP style.
- Preferred major of communications, journalism, marketing or public relations.
- Strong written and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with professionalism.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, within diverse teams and environments.
