Summer Academy Teacher

 

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Generate, Submit weekly, and Facilitate daily lesson plans facilitated through Google Team Drive and Gradelink.
  • Supervise and effectively utilize Academic Mentors (AM) in the classroom and other resources to create and maintain an online classroom atmosphere that is conductive to learning.
  • Keep track of the instructional schedule (there are several schedules operating simultaneously) and be conscientious about signing in and out for work using the swipe pad in the building.
  • Provide class-related questions that reiterate major teaching points for weekly Academic Games.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings as well as required workshops and training.
  • Work with AM to generate and submit pre-/post-test and final grade reports, including constructive comments, by the designated deadline.
  • Based on defined qualifications, Select Recipients and Present Certificates during awards program.
  • Collaborate with other PUB Team members to create positive cohesive relationships that focus on student development to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Become proficient with PUB technology used for tracking and reporting grades
  • Integrate computer and other technology into lesson plans as appropriate
  • Communicate with parents as needed.
  • Recommend Spirit Award recipients to the Administrative team.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to identify Academic Distinction Award recipient(s).
  • Other relevant duties as assigned by the Academic Coordinator or Project Director

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education or relevant discipline with significant high school teaching experience; state certification preferred. (For Performing Arts: Relevant combination of education and experience).
  • Advanced computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Windows, Internet, Google Classroom, Google Suite, video conferencing, online teaching).  Light clerical skills.
  • Previous experience working with ethnically diverse students (preferably high school ages).
  • Commitment to helping students prepare for college.
  • Ability to perform primary job functions

 

HIGH SCHOOL SUBJECT AREAS NEEDED-SKILLS COMBINATIONS ARE A PLUS:

  • Mathematics—Geometry, Algebra, Calculus, Trigonometry
  • Science – Biology, Chemistry, Physics
  • English—Grammar, Vocabulary, Composition, Literature, Reading, Writing
  • Foreign Language—Spanish, French, ASL
  • Performing Arts—Vocal Music, Drama, Dance, Scene Design
  • Electives – decided annually
