Social Media Content Creation Intern

The City of Grand Rapids’ Mobile GR Department is looking for a Social Media Content Creation Intern. This position would be around 10-15 hours a week and would be focused on filming, photography and content creation for mobility, transportation, and public safety related content on the City’s “GR Transportation” or @OnTheGoGR social media channels. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Taking photos and filming video for a wide variety of transportation related social media posts, such as explaining city infrastructure, travel safety tips, multi-modal trip vlogs, local transportation history lessons, snow plowing explanations, etc.
• Brainstorming ideas for social media content for Facebook, Instagram, X, Reddit, TikTok and YouTube. 
• Assists in monitoring social media channels for the opportunity to respond to comments and correct misinformation. 
• Assists in scheduling and creating body content for posts. 

This position would start at $24.00 per hour and at 15 hours per week. The schedule may vary depending on demand and availability. Schedule will be largely flexible to work with student commitments, though content deadlines will be expected to be met. This position will work closely with the Communications and Outreach Analyst for the department and will be primarily be tasked with assisting their work and following their direction on content creation.
