Engineering and Facilities Intern

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience to join our team as an Engineering and Facilities Intern. This position offers the opportunity to leverage existing skills while further developing engineering and facilities management expertise. The intern will play a vital role in contributing to complex projects, collaborating with seasoned professionals, and driving the success of our initiatives. As an Engineering Intern, you will be an integral part of our Engineering and Safety Department, supporting various projects and initiatives. This internship offers a unique chance to apply classroom knowledge to practical situations, develop technical skills, and work alongside experienced professionals   as outlined in the Crescent Way- 3 P’s:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safety

1. Read and understand the Crescent Safety Playbook – Doing it Safe.
2. Ensure a safe work environment is maintained.
3. Engage in the Safety Observation process
4. Ensure a clean and organized workspace, hold themselves to a high standard, and lives the “leave work areas better than found them”
5. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines.
6. Lead safety initiatives, ensuring adherence to protocols and guidelines.
7. Actively participate in safety planning, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

1. Collaborate with engineers on assembly, automation, and facilities projects.
2. Assist in designing, testing, and implementing relevant engineering processes/systems.
3. Assist in quality control inspections and procedures.

6. Conduct research and analysis to support project objectives.
7. Prepare and maintain technical documentation.
8. Participate in team meetings, providing insights and ideas.

Quality 

1. Ensure all equipment is operating in a manner that produces quality products.
2. Communicate any suspected quality issues to the appropriate person
3. Participate in root cause analysis on quality issues and be part of corrective action development.
4. Provide consultation along with the quality leader and operations leadership on all new builds to ensure “quality at the source” design.
5. Assist in quality control inspections and procedures.
6. Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives.
7. Provide guidance to maintain high standards of workmanship.
8. Contribute to maintaining high standards of workmanship.
9. Collaborate with team members to achieve project quality objectives.

Customer Value

1. Ensure the completion of all required PMs – Crescent and Customer-owned equipment.
2. Provide real-time support to customer trials, samples, and visits.
3. Contribute to projects that enhance customer satisfaction.
4. Collect and analyze customer, site, or stakeholder feedback for continuous improvement.
5. Ensure that deliverables meet or exceed customer expectations.

Financial

1. Responsible for specifying, sourcing, and selecting cost-effective equipment, spare parts, and services.
2. Good decision-making on repairing/replacing parts and equipment

5. Identify opportunities for resource optimization.

Qualifications

Education & Experience: 

1. 2 years’ experience in packaging equipment maintenance or other related function
2. Currently enrolled in an accredited engineering program.
3. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
4. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
5. Proven analytical mindset with a track record of successful problem-solving.
6. Ability to lead teams in tackling complex challenges.
7. Exemplifies professionalism and ethical conduct in all interactions.
8. Represents Crescent positively in dealings with team members, stakeholders, and clients
9. Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
10. Knowledge of engineering principles and facilities management concepts.
11. Strong academic performance and a passion for engineering.
12. Familiarity with AutoCad and/or other relevant engineering tools/software
13. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
14. Ability to adapt and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
