Intern Technical Writer

We are looking for an enthusiastic Intern Technical Writer with a keen interest in engineering and the sciences, especially in the study of material properties of substances. This role is suited for a student or recent graduate in Engineering, Material Sciences, Chemistry, Technical Writing, or a related field, who wants to apply their knowledge in a practical setting. The intern will create clear, accurate, and comprehensive documentation covering our product portfolio’s usage in analyzing material properties of various substances, including fluids, textures, powders, and moisture.

This role includes working with sources, including summarizing and paraphrasing, synthesizing source materials, citing, quoting, and avoiding plagiarism.

Responsibilities:

  • Documentation Development: Draft, revise, and maintain technical documents, including Operations Manuals and Quick Start Guides, and support technical writing for marketing promotions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, engineers, and marketing to gather the necessary technical details for documentation.
  • Technical Research: Conduct literature reviews and summarize findings on the latest developments in material sciences relevant to our projects.
  • Data Analysis: Assist in analyzing and presenting data on material properties in an understandable format for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all technical documentation is accurate, up to date, and meets industry standards and compliance requirements.
  • Educational Content Creation: Help develop educational materials or tutorials for internal training sessions on material properties and related topics.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Technical Writing, Engineering, Material Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • A strong interest in and understanding of engineering and material sciences, especially material properties of substances.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency in documentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite)
  • Detail-oriented with strong research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Previous experience in technical writing or a related field through internships or academic projects is highly desirable.
