Data Analyst (Junior-Level)

Under the direction of the Chief Data Officer and/or Designee, responsible for inspecting, cleaning, transforming, and modeling data with the goal of presenting information to support decision making; as a member of the Business Intelligence Unit, provides reporting and data analysis services to internal and external clients; performs other related duties as directed.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Processes requests for new reports, modifications, or enhancements to existing reports, as well as requests for raw informational data from queries; must respond to data requests and helpdesk tickets for report defects.

Understands the complete business flow and offers suggestions for database design and/or ETL processes necessary to meet reporting needs.

Gathers requirements, designs, creates, and implements reports, queries and enhancement requests quickly in response to frequently changing customer requests.

Efficiently extracts appropriate data in readable formats for end users.

Understands system integrations as required for extracting data for reporting purposes

Builds scripts to query data from multiple SQL servers and manages data integration for easy user access.

Troubleshoots and resolves daily reporting automation issues.

Performs other related assignments and duties as directed.

Develops and documents new processes, as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Possess excellent communication, analysis, and design skills to infer the requester's intended meaning of each request and interfaces with the client to resolve any issues or make any clarifications on the front end of the request.

Skill and experience with complex SQL server queries; ability to write, design and troubleshoot SQL code.

Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services.

Skill and experience Microsoft Excel.

Excellent customer service skills with the ability to react diplomatically and patiently to internal and external customers.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures.

Ability to work independently under minimal supervision in stressful situations and meet deadlines.

Ability to prioritize, plan, and organize tasks based upon user requirements.

Ability to manage multiple projects utilizing best practices based on departmental priorities.

Ability to read a complex data model, quickly learn the flow of data through the application/database and apply this knowledge to create accurate results for data analysis and query/report requests.

Ability to take requirements and create documentation for reporting changes, new reports, new database structure requested, etc.

Ability to write queries to validate data when questioned by users.

Strong data analysis ability, including knowledge of financial and/or accounting concepts to handle stringent financial reporting requirements.

Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle.

Knowledge of data creation, management & implementation via Excel spreadsheets.

Possess proactive ability to identify and recommend improvements to processes.

Possess strengths in professional business data preparation.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of an associates or higher degree, from an accredited college or university, AND/OR (3) years of full time, professional work experience in Data Analysis.

Possession of a valid Driver’s License and proof of vehicle insurance, with the ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Required to be capable of working any shift assigned, including days, afternoons or midnights; must be capable of working Holidays and weekends; must be capable of working mandatory overtime, as required.

At least 1 year of experience developing SQL scripts.

Preferred Qualifications

Possession of a bachelor’s or higher degree, from an accredited college or university, in Computer Programming, Information Technology or a closely related field.

Possession of ITIL Foundation Certification.

One (1) or more years of professional work experience utilizing advanced reporting tools.

One (1) or more years of professional work experience with data modeling and ETL concepts to process requests that cannot feasibly be met with current production database design.
