Student Fellowship Program

Overview

As Michigan takes centerstage on the political landscape for the upcoming elections, students in Michigan have an opportunity to make their voices heard and take leadership on their campuses. For Michigan provides a platform for students to be civic leaders in their community through voter registration, education and turnout by building a scrappy and innovative operation to protect and expand democracy.

What Will You Do?

For Michigan’s student fellowship program provides autonomy to current college students to lead on campus and take initiative in turning out students to vote. Fellows receive training and education from campus organizers to learn about community organizing and connect with nonprofit and campaign professionals. 

Services That Fellows Provide Include:

• Talk to students by doorknocking, high traffic canvassing, relational outreach, and more.
• Recruit and train volunteers who will mobilize their peers and create a movement on campus.
• Build relationships with a coalition of administrators, student leaders, and student organizations on a campus.
• Use social media to engage with students and organize on campus.
• Manage fun and engaging events to educate students about the upcoming elections.

Who Are You?

An ideal campaign fellow is: 

• A current student at a Michigan college or university.
• Passionate about empowering young people to get involved in the political process.
• Eager to talk to as many students as possible.
• Motivated to work independently to accomplish the services.
• Not required to have prior organizing experience.

Fellowship Details: Student fellows will be independent contractors and receive a fee of up to $250/week to deliver the services. Time commitment is likely 10-15 hours per week.  .
