Process Manufacturing Engineer

The Process Manufacturing Engineer will support the overall Digital Transformation of our Vehicle Processing Centers with primary responsible for the continuation of the standardization initiative, improving the process maturity of current and future state Vehicle Processing in a light manufacturing environment through the application of basic Manufacturing and Operations Management tools and principles.  

 

Requirements:

  • Work with Design Engineering and Industrial Engineers to design and develop SOPs, Control Plans, Bill of Processes or routing sheets, Work Instructions, Visual Job Aids, and related documents to drive improvement in Manufacturing Operations Management while meeting the required standards, specifications and labor times.
  • Lead implementation of major projects and initiatives related to Manufacturing principles. Write the technical standards based on the projects.
  • Develop and implement auditing requirements.
  • Implement process upgrades by applying various engineering applications (digital or physical) and monitor the outcomes of these process improvements.
  • Must understand the commitment to and application of quality requirements as defined in both the VPQA manual and with SET standards.
  • Communicate and collaborate with all stakeholders effectively; Production Leadership, Facilities management, Information and Technology Systems (ITS) teams and front-line associates to drive sustainable improvement and business results that tie to our business plan (Hoshin). 
  • Support sharing best practices across all three VPC’s through ongoing communication. and effective Standard Operating Procedure development and deployment. 
  • Determine tooling and/or machinery required to support
  • Collaborate with the operations team to achieve and sustain shared process goals.
  • Present process improvement opportunities, analysis, observations, and recommendations to the leadership team

 

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of current and recent professional work experience in Process or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or other related field from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Technical writing experience and implementation of new documentation within a standardized system, such as ISO
  • Experience using Continuous Improvement tools (ex. Standardized Work and RCCA) in a production environment. 
  • Strong quantitative skills, deriving compelling insights from data.
  • Project management skills
  • Proficiency at advanced level in MS Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • Must possess strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and concisely with associates, all levels of management, and outside vendors/customers. 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Must be flexible for travel to support all Southeast Toyota sites, and partnerships with Toyota Motors North America. (Approximate – 15% travel)  

 

Preferred Experience: 

  • Experience planning, conducting, and performing various product and process audits
  • Experience within an ERP (Examples: D365, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Experience in Process Mapping utilizing visualization tools such as Visio, Blueworks Live, Mavim,etc.
  • Experience with the Toyota Production System, Kaizen concepts and Lean logistics 
  • Solid working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is necessary.
  • Ability to understand and use manufacturing processes. This includes understanding how to set up and operate machines.
