Mechanical Engineering Internship

We are seeking a 3rd or 4th year Mechanical Engineering student to create an adapter for some of the motorcycles that won’t work with our Let’s Roll Cruiser dolly and lift system.  This position is part-time, up to 30 hours per week, but could be determined by the right candidates schedule needs. Flexible schedule and hybrid remote (Southfield, MI 48075).  The hourly rate is $21/hour, plus bonuses.

There will be some travel around the metro Detroit areas to visit dealerships to inspect motorcycles. May have to go to a local bike night or rally to see if certain motorcycles are there to look at. There may need to be some creative insight to find some motorcycles to look at or to contact the manufacturer for information.

This position will work closely with our CEO and will be guided to find the best way to capture the data needed to design an adapter. We found a 3D scanner that probably would work great to assist in capturing that information.

It will start with the investigation of those motorcycles that we would like our system to work on, getting an idea of if an adapter could work, compiling all the data from those motorcycles and coming up with one adapter, possibly 2 if needed, that could work with them all.

Once an idea is created and captured in CAD or some other similar technical drawings application, we can then send it to Send-Cut-Send where they laser cut our part and send for us to demo. We then test the prototype on some of these motorcycles and once the adapter is approved, the drawing will be sent to our fabricator to produce for us for testing. The intern does not need to follow through to the very end of the project and will be kept informed of the progress it is making. We hope to patent the product.

If once the intern comes in and sees that this is something that isn’t feasible to create. He/she would still be paid for the time spent.
