The Grant Writing Intern will support our development team by researching, drafting, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding for our programs and initiatives. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience in grant writing, enhance their writing skills, and make a meaningful contribution to a non-profit organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research to identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Assist in gathering and organizing relevant information and documentation required for grant applications.
  • Draft compelling and well-structured grant proposals, letters of intent, and supporting documents.
  • Collaborate with program staff to understand project goals, objectives, and outcomes to effectively communicate them in grant proposals.
  • Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines and ensure timely submission of all grant applications.
  • Track and report on the status of submitted grants and follow up with funders as necessary.
  • Assist in writing thank-you letters, progress reports, and other correspondence related to grant funding.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a university program majoring in Creative Writing, English, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Previous experience in grant writing or non-profit work is a plus, but not required.
