Environmental Health and Safety Co-op

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Provides support with Environmental Health and Safety programs to ensure compliance and continuously improve performance. Position will work with site EHS lead to develop working knowledge of local, state and federal environmental health and safety regulations. Generally, provides support for the EHS program to support a safe working environment. Assist with conducting EHS assessments (PPE, hazard risk assessments for new equipment/process, safety walks, job safety analysis). Assists with environmental health and safety training and content development.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education & Experience

  • Required- High School Diploma and enrolled in a B.A. /B.S. Degree program in an environmental health and safety related discipline.
  • Desired – enrolled in B.A. or B.S. in a environmental or industrial safety program with strong interest in Manufacturing environments.
  • Required – Experience not applicable
  • Desired – Previous Co-Op experience

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite and general computer-based application

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Routine entry into a manufacturing environment that requires garbing into the area.
  • Stand, Walk, Sit, Talk and/or Hear
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 
  • Frequently working near or exposed to moving mechanical parts 
  • The noise level is moderate
  • Work environment is a production/manufacturing plant
