Entry Level - Project Management Intern Position (Paid)

AVL Test Systems Canada is looking to hire an entry level position as a paid intern supporting the project management team.  This is a learning position, as well as an active contributor to a specific customer project located in Windsor.  

 

AVL provides customers with innovative measurement, testing, and data management solutions.  As a leader in mobility, we continue to develop and grow our team in North America, Canada, and globally.  This Project Management Intern will support a specific customer project.  The position will report directly to one of our Department Managers on the project management team in Plymouth, MI.  Location of this position will be remote; however, it will require frequent onsite customer visits to Windsor, Canada as needed.  Mileage reimbursement will be provided for required travel to the customer location.

 

The Project Management Intern will specifically support the project at hand by providing the below:

  • Gather, ensure required execution & organize documentation.
  • Maintenance of AVL TSI & affiliate staff schedule in relation to required support of the 40+ test cells.
  • Onsite support of AVL personnel with inventory management & additional tasks as required.
  • Part support

 

This is a great entry level opportunity to grow project management skills in support of an active project.  To be qualified for this position, candidates will be working towards a relevant degree, possess 1 or more past internships, and be well versed in MS office (specifically Excel, Outlook & Microsoft Project.)  Strong communication skills are required as this position will interface frequently with onsite personnel, in addition to internal functions, purchasing, engineering, PM, etc.  In addition, time management and organization skills are highly required to ensure success in this opportunity.    

 

The AVL TSI Canada team is looking to fill this opportunity immediately with estimated working hours at 10-20 minimally, with ability to increase to 40 hours weekly.  During the summer months, support is estimated closer to the 40 hour per week range.  In the fall hours have potential to reduce.  This position is paid hourly + required vacation pay.  Position doesn't offer medical or RRSP.  

 

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis.  Employer will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate monthly project review meetings, including scheduling, report preparation and maintenance, and follow-up actions
  • Coordinate lessons learned meetings, including scheduling, collecting team feedback, report preparation, minutes of meeting, and follow-up actions
  • Support project managers to maintain data quality in AVL’s project reporting system
  • Interface with the Finance Department and support project accounting requirements
  • Collect data and create internal project reports for the management team
  • Collect standard product documentation to support project execution
  • Support creation and maintenance of department work instructions
  • Support additional projects as requested by management
  • Support open issue management and closure
  • Manage non-complex customer project orders
  • All other duties as communicated

Qualifications:

  • In process or received college BS degree in relation to Engineering, Business, Project Management or related
  • High School diploma
  • Desire to learn
  • Willingness to start at the entry/beginning phases to learn processes and functions of the department they are assigned to
  • Excellent organizational and record keeping skills removed period
