Digital Advancement Ambassador

Advancement Ambassadors serve an integral part of the University’s fundraising and alumni relations effort. This program is a great way to show your love of Oakland University and to make a direct impact on the campus! 

 

Pay rate: Start at $15/hr with regular pay increases per semester worked. 

 

Our ambassadors contact OU alumni and community members to ask for donations - wherever they feel most passionate! The funds we raise go directly to student scholarships, research projects and other programs not funded by tuition. In addition, advancement ambassadors update alumni demographics, answer questions and get to know our amazing alumni - making it a built-in networking opportunity for you! 

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Be an OU student, enrolled at least part time

Typing skills are required, along with strong analytical and computer skills.

Excellent oral communication skills;

Must be detail-oriented and organized.

Positive attitude and self-motivated;

Dependable and punctual;

You enjoy talking to new people;

Competitive spirit;

Experience working in sales or retail is preferred.

Experience working in a professional business environment is preferred.

Attend mandatory training sessions;

 

SHIFT REQUIREMENTS

 

During calls with alumni and friends of the University, ambassadors are responsible for:

Assisting with donor stewardship outreach through outbound phone calling, email and text messaging

Soliciting funds for various areas around campus;

Collecting and updating demographic information;

Develop positive relationships with all those contacted;

Maintain professionalism at all times.

Mentor and train other advancement ambassadors for soliciting gifts and engaging donors.

Knowledge of current events and achievements around the university, from ongoing construction projects to rankings on academic listings; 

 

SCHEDULE

 

Up to 25 hours/week, international students 20 hours/week (including all other campus employment

 

Employment Start Date: September 15th 2024, Mandatory Training on Saturday September 14th 2024! 

 

We conduct shifts during the following times:

 

Sunday 12-3pm and 3:30-6:30pm (can work one or both shifts on Sunday) 

 

Monday 5- 8 p.m.

 

Tuesday 5 to 8 p.m.

 

Wednesday 5 to 8 p.m.

 

Thursday 5 to 8 p.m.
