Grant Writer Internship

We are looking for a Grant Writer to join our team and lead the efforts to help our organization receive funding for our programs. 

 

A Grant Writer’s responsibilities include researching grant opportunities, writing compelling grant proposals to acquire funding, and working with our leadership team to ensure we have enough funding for our programs each year.

 

Ultimately, you will work with the development team to understand our financial needs and write grants to help our organization attain funding.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the execution of the development department’s strategy
  • Identify grant funding opportunities
  • Identify the goals of prospective funders along with their expectations for the grant implementation
  • Write grant proposals and submit drafts to supervisor for review
  • Collaborate with Development Manager to send benefactors newsletters and to promote on-site tours
  • Collaborate with Development Manager to compile an annual report

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven work experience as a Grant Writer or similar role
  • Proficient with measuring and reaching income goals
  • Great with MS Office Word and Excel
  • Excellent knowledge of fundraising information sources (knowledge of Instrumental is a plus)
  • Exceptional organizational and writing skills
  • Bachelor’s (or Master’s)  degree in English, Writing, or related field

 

The Grant Writing Internship is a 3-month program. It is not a salary internship. You will be compensated based on commission from the grants you are able to receive. If you perform well after the three months, it could turn into a full time job with salary, commission, and benefits.

 

The internship is a lot of fun. You will learn a lot about nonprofits and grant writing. The internship is really good for students and young professionals who enjoy helping others through nonprofit organizations.
