IT Asset Specialist, Intern

We are looking for an IT Asset Specialist Intern who will be responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of Clean Harbors Configuration Management Database (CMDB). This role involves managing configuration item (CI) data, ensuring the accuracy of asset records, and supporting the CMDB Asset Manager in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of asset management processes.  The primary responsibility will be working with our ServiceNow Discovery platform to assist in discovering IT assets across the Clean Harbors environment within the US & Canada.  The goal is to ensure accuracy of data and ownership/management of these devices. This will be a 3-4 month internship. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. CMDB Maintenance:
    • Update and maintain the CMDB with accurate and up-to-date configuration item (CI) information.
    • Assist in the identification, classification, and documentation of CIs.
    • Perform regular data quality checks to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the CMDB.
  2. Asset Tracking:
    • Track and document IT assets throughout their lifecycle, from acquisition to disposal.
    • Maintain accurate records of hardware, software, and network assets.
    • Assist in conducting regular physical and virtual asset audits.
  3. Data Integrity:
    • Ensure data integrity by reconciling discrepancies and resolving data quality issues.
    • Follow established procedures for CMDB updates and asset management.
    • Support compliance efforts by ensuring adherence to organizational policies and standards.
  4. Process Support:
    • Assist in the development and implementation of CMDB and asset management processes.
    • Provide input on process improvements and automation opportunities.
    • Support the CMDB Asset Manager in documenting and refining procedures.
  5. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with IT, finance, procurement, and other departments to ensure accurate asset and CI data.
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding asset and configuration management.
    • Respond to inquiries and provide support related to the CMDB and asset management.
  6. Reporting and Analysis:
    • Generate reports on asset and configuration data as required.
    • Assist in analyzing data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
    • Provide data and insights to support decision-making processes.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office toolset
  • Familiarity with Database concepts 
  • Basic understanding of ITIL processes and best practices.
