Student Network Engineer

As a Student Network Engineer, you will have the opportunity to learn networking from full-time employees and more experienced student employees in a collaborative and engaging environment.

This position will be under the direction of full time staff in the University Technology Services Department. The Student Network Engineer will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the network technology field. The Student Network Engineer will be performing 2nd tier network and telephone help-desk tickets, troubleshooting issues, activating data ports, performing switch configuration, monitoring network performance using network diagnostic tools. Use Unix, Mac, Windows software, and CISCO IOS systems to complete day-to-day tasks. Resolve network issues and participate in other network technology projects as assigned by University Staff.

A general understanding of information technology is required. Knowledge of networking fundamentals is preferred.

This position may involve lifting up to 50 lbs on occasion for equipment installations and maintenance. Ability to move between buildings to perform networking functions. Operation of department vehicles may also be required.
