Technical Operations and Middle Office Summer Intern

Our Technical Operations and Middle Office teams are involved in the capturing and running of data analytics to improve processes, identify any gaps/risks in procedures and ensure accuracy of regulatory reports. Our teams develop business intelligence solutions, MIS/BI reports, business requirement docs and process re-engineering documentations, as part of the wider Operations & Middle Office organization.

 

Interns will work closely with stakeholders and management across departments and regions to craft and implement project plans and initiatives to ensure timely delivery. You will also work in parallel with the Global Operations Control team and work with internal resources/external counterparties to improve processes on an ongoing basis.

 

In this internship, you will gain an understanding of fixed income, equity, and commodities markets and learn how various product types work including: Equities, Futures, interest rate swaps, Swaptions, FX Options.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and work closely with teams across Ops, IT, Legal, Compliance and Finance departments globally as needed and with external parties to deliver projects, regulatory reports, and control frameworks
  • Automate any reporting processes through the development of VBA/SQL/Python solutions and/or Tableau Dashboards
  • Reporting on metrics spanning the trade lifecycle including trade volumes, trade edits, matching, settlement, and positions/balances
  • Build and handle comprehensive scorecards aligning key performance indicators by asset class, market, broker, trading group, legal entity etc.
  • Run data analytics to identify trends and gaps, devise formal governance over recurring issues and provide vital analysis and documentation for Ops Management
  • Maintain the relationship with all partners and external counterparties; supervise offshore vendors by defining and reporting on Service Level Agreements
  • Consolidation of firm-wide reports for domestic and international regulators

 

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

  • Rising juniors and seniors who are interested in a future career at a top-tier alternative asset financial services firm
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.5 and above
  • Experience with Coding (VBA/Python, etc)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Analytical Skills
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt to any situation quickly

 

The estimated annual salary for this position is $100,000 to $150,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future.
