Job Description:

As a Manufacturing Engineer Intern based in our Troy, MI facility, you will play a vital role in driving the efficiency, quality, and productivity of our manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for analysis, implementing, and improving manufacturing methods and systems. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality assurance, you will contribute to the successful production of high-quality Trystar products for our customers. This position requires a willingness to learn, strong technical background, problem-solving skills, and the ability to optimize manufacturing operations. The goal of the internship program is to create opportunities for engineering students to develop engineering skills in an industrial setting.

In this role you will get to:

  • Demonstrate Trystar’s guiding principles and values. 
  • Work directly with a mentor while finding solutions to real world problems
  • Work on projects that are related to your areas of interest and study with a high level of autonomy and ownership. These projects are designed to bring value to our business.
  • Assist in the structuring of Enterprise Resource Planning systems around methods of manufacturing.
  • Help streamline manufacturing process flows through the implementation of modern systems and technologies.
  • Assist in the implementation of lean manufacturing techniques (waste observation/elimination, recovery, etc.).
  • Evaluates and troubleshoots process issues focused on improving Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Inventory (SQDCI) Metrics.
  • Delivers manufacturing cost reduction and continuous improvement projects and collaborates with the cross-functional team to complete assigned projects on time.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive work instructions, procedures, and documentation for manufacturing processes. Standardize operations to ensure consistency, safety, and quality.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to the production team during the manufacturing process. Resolve production issues, implement process changes, and ensure adherence to production schedules and targets.
  • Analyze and evaluate methods of production and communicate ways to improve current practices.
  • Build a lasting professional network by working with seasoned engineers on cross functional teams.
  • Gain the skills and knowledge to become a future leader in the electrical power industry.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a culture of safety in the manufacturing environment. Identify and mitigate potential hazards and risks.

 

Job Requirements:

  • A junior or Senior in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment sponsorship.
