Lead Peer Mentor Job Description

 

 

Hourly Pay Rate: $16/hr.              Supervisor: Project Advisor                        Positions available: 1

 

General Work Days/Hours:                                                                                         

  • Mondays through Fridays generally between 8:30am and 8:30pm as class schedule allows
  • 1-2 Saturdays per month between 7:45am and 3:30pm 

 

Position Purpose: 

  • Engage PUB Scholars in regular communications and programming with the goal of Project membership retention 
  • Coordinate the activities of Peer Mentors to achieve the above and to prepare them for possible summer employment with PUB
  • Use social/cultural/career enrichment programming to give PUB Scholars college life exploratory experiences with which to make informed decisions about post high school choices

 

Work Conditions: 

  • The Lead Peer Mentor will report directly to the Project Director but also collaborate with the Project Assistant and Academic Coordinator on joint undertakings. 
  • PMs will work in a hybrid environment – virtual and live at OU or the schools that PUB serves
  • Work time must be documented by swiping in and out in order to get paid

 

Primary Duties/Requirements:

  1. Generate and facilitate a schedule of interactive services to promote student retention
  2. Identify and Coordinate resource use (human and other) to facilitate service delivery
  3. Develop and maintain a schedule of regular communications with PUB Scholars
  4. Chaperone local and out-of-town field trips
  5. Attend, participate in, and assist as necessary with scheduled meetings and PUB programming, particularly social/cultural experiences
  6. Facilitate PUB Flight 60 for new admits
  7. Oversee the facilitation of On Track for all PUB Scholars
  8. Assist with recruitment and admission activities as schedule/time permits
  9. Submit accurate, timely, and detailed work/service documentation to supervisor

 

Minimum Qualifications/PrerequisitesEMPLOYMENT CONTINGENT ON ACCEPTABLE BACKGROUND CHECK

  • Junior or higher class standing
  • At least one successful summer as a PUB Peer Mentor
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, social and role modeling skills as well as integrity and commitment
