Spring 2025 Government Affairs Intern

As a spring 2025 government intern you may be responsible for the following tasks along with other duties as assigned:

  • Researching current events and work on various projects as necessary to assist with deadline driven assignments.
  • Assisting staff with legislative, regulatory and consumer group issues, attend legislative hearings, provide hearing coverage with follow-up report writing.
  • Providing internet searches and other research on organizations, issues, trends, case studies, federal legislative and political agendas, public policy issues and regional events.
  • Front desk coverage, greet guests, answer phones, respond to customer inquiries, retrieve, and open mail, assist with reports, prepare word documents and spreadsheets, filing, faxing, photocopying, backup office coverage, assist in accounting related matters.

Schedule will vary 3-5 days weekly – maximum 40 hours per week.

Required skills:

  • 3.0/4.0 GPA
  • Professional demeanor / superior business etiquette
  • Communication skills – must have excellent written and oral skills (will have interaction with business leaders and other professionals)
  • Research skills – including use of internet
  • Solid organizational skills
  • Good time management
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint (required); Outlook (desired)

Optional skills:

  • Political and / or public policy knowledge experience
  • Previous office / corporate experience
  • Editing
  • Phone experience / member relations
