Graduate Research Assistant -MSW and MPH Programs

Job Description:

Graduate Research Assistants(RAs) are selected for excellence in scholarship and potential as researchers. Graduate Research Assistants provide approximately 20 hours of service per week, over the course of a semester and under the supervision of faculty members. Research activities should relate directly to the student’s degree requirements and should be reasonably expected to contribute to the student’s academic program.

The Social Work and Public Health Programs are seeking two Research Graduate Assistants to support the development of the new Dual MSW/MPH program by researching existing dual degree programs, mapping curricula, and assisting in the development of surveys and needs assessments, and planning of stakeholder meetings.

Responsibilities:

Conduct research on existing dual MSW/MPH programs nationally to gather data on program design.

Assist in mapping out the curriculum for the dual degree program by comparing and integrating course offerings from Oakland University's MSW and MPH programs.

Support the development and administration of surveys aimed at current students, alumni, and community partners to assess the demand and expectations for the dual degree program.

Assist in analyzing survey and assessment data, preparing reports, and presenting findings to the program directors and relevant committees.

Assist faculty in research as needed

Qualifications:

Graduate Assistants must be enrolled in at least 8 credits per semester in a Master of Public Health or Master of Social Work at Oakland University.  Graduate coursework and/or research must contribute directly to the satisfaction of Oakland's degree requirements. Graduate assistants must have and maintain good academic standing (3.0 grade point average).

Tuition:

Tuition (eight credits per semester or a total of 8 credits) will be compensated. Any additional credits and class fees, including books, will be the responsibility of the student.  

Compensation:

Students will receive a paycheck (via direct deposit if desired) on the last business day of each month for the duration of the assistantship.
