Intern- Long Term Transmission Planning

JOB TITLE: Intern- Long Term Transmission Planning

DEPARTMENT: Transmission Planning – Emergency Response Center
LOCATION: Kansas City, Missouri
PAY RANGE: $21.00 - $26.00

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Other hours as required)

We provide a number of intern events throughout the summer to burn some extra energy, including volunteer events, power plant tours, lunch and learns, and more

Intern Description:
Assist the Transmission Planning team by documenting 69 kV facilities into our Facility Ratings Tool. This project will provide experience in reading substation one-lines, working with Maximo to find nameplate ratings, and coordinating with groups across Evergy to verify our ratings. This individual will have opportunities to see various other projects such as line impedance calculations, powerflow simulations, and transmission system model building.

Job tasks include but not limited to:
• Documenting 69 kV facility equipment and ratings into the Facility Rating Tool
• Assist in the transmission system model build process
• Assist the team in testing new software to calculate transmission line impedance

Education and Experience Requirements:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university or technical program in one of the following or a related technical field: Maintenance & Reliability Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
• Must be dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented and have excellent organizational and proofreading skills.  
• Must possess the ability to work and communicate effectively with other company personnel. 
• Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and databases preferred.  
• Must be able to handle multiple priorities and operate efficiently and effectively in high stress environment.

Working Conditions:
Normal office working conditions with potential for some field visits.
