PAY GRADE: $21.00 - $26.00/ hour
Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Intern Description:
Under minimal direction, Project Engineers liaise between company distribution, transmission, substation, standards and planning engineers, as well as external consultant engineers. Project Engineers engage construction experts to transform engineering concepts into organized, actionable, and safely constructable designs focused on affordability, reliability and sustainability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
⦁ Collaboration with various functional groups, both internal and external
⦁ Coordination/deconfliction with other public and private utilities
⦁ Origination of real-estate survey and easement acquisition
⦁ Development of material lists per company standards
⦁ Review civil construction plans for conflicts
⦁ Field observations and creative thinking to navigate congested corridors
⦁ Incorporate soil type and stormwater runoff conditions into facility installation instructions
⦁ Calculate electric and physical loads to size facilities
⦁ Estimate labor hours and overall cost to perform work
⦁ Create job maps complete with instructions
⦁ Calculate revenue justification and collect required customer contributions
⦁ Obtain and file permits
⦁ Field stake project work locations and verify survey markers
⦁ Real-time problem solver for crews actively engaged in project construction
Education and Experience:
Active enrollment in an ABET accredited engineering, engineering technology, or construction science program.

Physical Requirements:
Job includes, but is not limited to hearing, seeing, walking long distances on uneven terrain, talking, reading, typing, writing, color distinction, depth perception, working outside in adverse conditions, and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, etc.).
Licenses, Certification, Bonding, and/or Testing:
Requires a valid Kansas Driver’s License.
Working Conditions:
Most work is performed in an office with field work as necessary. Occasional travel to other locations within the company is required. Position requires work beyond normal business hours depending on workload, project deadlines, and service restoration efforts. Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
