Title: Mechanical Engineer Intern  

Department: Equipment Engineering Group (EEG), Operations 

Location(s): Maple Grove, MN  

Duration: May - August 2025 (dates flexible)

We are looking for a proactive student for the Mechanical Engineering Internship within our Equipment Engineering Group.  You will be working alongside other Mechanical Engineers and Designers to create unique solutions to complex problems that support the development and production of medical devices. This could include designing solutions in CAD, troubleshooting on the floor, and collaborating with other engineering disciplines to find the most robust solutions to engineering problems.

Able to learn independently about new technologies or platforms in a fast-paced environment 

Able to demonstrate basic prototyping, problem solving, and engineering skills 

Great at complex problem solving, designing, troubleshooting, implementing, and debugging technical solutions 

Effective at collaborating with team members of all backgrounds and disciplines, with strong written and verbal communication skills 

Pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in an engineering or technical discipline 

 

Your Impact: 

Work in a dynamic, collaborative environment to understand requirements, design, develop and test innovative mechanical solutions to manufacturing challenges. 

Assist in troubleshooting equipment operational issues on the production floor 

Design and develop prototypes of mechanical assemblies based on customer requirements 

Design robust systems with focus on the long-term maintenance and support of the product 

Engage in Continuous Improvement activities 

Learn a great deal about the manufacturing processes involved in making medical devices 

 

Preferred Knowledge, or Experience: 

Knowledge of 3D CAD System 

Mechanical aptitude and a passion for mechanical things 

Experience using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook 

Hands-on experience repairing/maintaining/building mechanical systems
