Transmission Planning Engineer Intern

Internship Title – Transmission Planning Engineer
Department –Transmission Planning 
Minimum Education level: JR
Preferred Majors: Electrical Engineering (focus on Power Systems Preferred)

Department Description: 
The Transmission Planning department is responsible for the New England regional transmission system planning and technical transmission system analyses. The department plays a pivotal role in developing a clean, affordable, and reliable 21st century regional electric grid.

What will you be working on:
The intern position will assist in the analysis of the New England transmission system.  This work may include model development, system analysis, and support services such as data management.

The intern will gain experience working alongside experienced transmission planning engineers.  They will gain experience using modeling tools and applications and analyzing the performance of the transmission system.  They will get to apply the theory learned in school to assignments posed to them by the transmission planning engineers.

What we look for in a candidate: 
Good organizational skills
Must be able to become familiar with various power system analysis programs such as PSS/E, ASPEN, and TARA
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access or other office programs is desirable
Enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD program in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on Power Systems  

 

To be eligible for the internship candidate must have completed at least the first year of college and be currently enrolled in a four year or graduate-level academic program. Candidates must have the authority to work in the US on a permanent basis, without requiring sponsorship.
