Engineering Intern

POSITION SUMMARY

Learn various aspects of the Engineering function by working with the Engineering team and Manufacturing team on core product lines at US Valve. Provide day-to-day support of existing team members as well as take ownership of specific projects designed to achieve product development, quality improvements, and Manufacturing improvements. Collaborate with other functions of the organization including Procurement, Operations, Finance, Regulatory and Sales to achieve objectives. Upon completion, the successful candidate will present the results of a focus project to the Senior Leadership Team.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide project support for the Engineering team
  2. Work on Derivative and New Product designs programs
  3. Provide CIP (cost, information, prototype) support for derivative opportunities
  4. Perform FEA and CFD analysis
  5. Participate in project conference calls with sales team and customers
  6. Write lab tests to validate product changes or measure performance/reliability.
  7. Assemble prototype/derivative products
  8. Provide Support to Product Manufacturing Team
  9. Participate in CI/Rapid Improvement Events, and LEAN mfg events
  10. Complete efficiency studies on the production floor
  11. Investigate/determine root cause of field failure/warranty returns.
  12. Correct production quality/assembly problems.
  13. Determine proper disposition of product in receiving/first article inspection
  14. Provide support to Regulatory Engineering team
  15. Review existing regulatory documentation for adherence to latest standards
  16. Supply recommended changes to documentation based on latest standards
  17. Perform a medium scale design or validation project, including problem statement, project management, data recordation, cross functional proposal, and implementation.

  1. Current college student, with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above, who is enrolled and in good standing at a Maryland higher education institution.
  2. Sophomore standing by start of internship at minimum, majoring or minoring in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace, Drafting or related discipline

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  1. High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Office and shop floor working environment.
  • Required to wear safety glasses and utilize safety equipment while present on the shop floor.
  • Noise level is minimal with intervals of spikes.
