Human Resources Benefits, Wellness and Diversity & Inclusion Internship:

 

CNO’s HR Intern program is designed to introduce college students to the application of HR skills in insurance. 

This is a paid internship, at competitive rates of approx. $21-$23/Hour depending on location. The Memorial Day and 4th of July holidays are paid days off. 

As an HR – Benefits, Wellness and Diversity & Inclusion Intern, your responsibilities will include: 

  • Network with associates and senior leaders across different functions, including VPs and ELG members, to foster collaboration and gain insights for various projects. 
  • Assist in gathering data and essay responses for National Business Group on Health and Healthiest Employer local and national well-being applications. 
  • Participate in vendor demos, and market analysis projects as needed. 
  • Assist on a variety of projects related to benefits, well-being, and diversity & inclusion as needed. 
  • Opportunities to get involved with various Business Resource Groups and other Diversity & Inclusion initiatives. 
  • Assist in annual open enrollment process by reviewing and making updates to associate benefits guides and recruiting materials. 
  • Assist in revising annual documents such as the Environmental Social Governance Report and the Total Rewards Guide. 
  • Contribute to the company’s simplification objective by finding creative ways to simplify processes and documents. 
  • Work with the Well-being, Business Resource Groups and Facilities team to help plan and implement various aspects of the company-wide social events. 
  • Assist in creating various guides and flat sheets pertaining to topics related to Benefits, Well-being and Diversity & Inclusion (i.e., mental health and inclusive care.) 
  • Collaborate on other HR department projects as needed. 
  • Assist in testing systems and portals when necessary.

The CNO 2025 internship program will run from May 12 through August 1, 2025. During this period, we offer programming that compliments the learning provided by the department through work and other activities such as:

  • Networking
  • Leader Talks 
  • Career Counseling 
  • Development Opportunities 
  • Insurance Product and Industry Presentation Series 
  • An in-person event at one of our Corporate offices during the last week of July 
  • Final Presentations 
  • Volunteering Event 

Qualified candidates for a Benefits, Wellness and Diversity & Inclusion Intern position will have: 

  • Progress towards a bachelor’s degree in business, management, HR, industrial psychology, or a related discipline 
  • Status as a rising junior or rising senior, approx. graduation dates of Dec 2025 – June 2027 
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 
  • Availability to work 40 hrs/week for 10-12 weeks during the summer
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Office products
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

For students residing within 60 miles of CNO’s Carmel, IN or Chicago, IL corporate office, interns will have access to come into the office. If there are groups of interns near either location, informal lunches may also be arranged.
