Safety Intern
Job Summary:
Responsible for working with the site EHS Manager in upholding safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and company policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in administering the day-to-day compliance of the contractor management system.
- Updates Lock Out Tag Out procedures and confined space entry procedures.
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety requirements.
- Provide a “Customer Service” attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production, and achieving quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe workstation/environment at all times.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Assist in administering the online EHS management program to ensure all employees are enrolled in the system and data is accurate and up to date.
- Assist in updating and maintaining Safety and Environmental files.
- Assist in administering and monitoring the facility wide safety program and recommend methods to ensure employee participation and the implementation of a successful Safety Culture.
Education and Experience:
- Education: Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in safety or environmental related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent written communications and thorough detail in documentation completion.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and an enterprise resource planning (ERP) program
- Ability to maintain good attendance habits.
- Abide by all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description.
- Comply with the company’s safety, quality, environmental, and HR policies at all times.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to work 40 hours a week from approximately 05/01/2024 through 08/01/2024. Lesser hours may be acceptable if available to work during the school semester.
- Frequently required to stand and sit for long periods of time.
- Occasionally lift and/or move objects of 50 pounds or more.
- Operate in an office and production environment. Production environment could include frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme heat or cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the production environment is usually very loud.
