State Income Intern - Summer 2025

Position Summary

Assist the State Income Tax Compliance group with procuring, organizing, and inputting corporate state and local income and franchise tax returns into the applicable tax software.  Analyze federal to state/local differences in tax treatment.  Prepare associated Excel templates and supporting research and documentation.  Assist with notice responses and additional tasks and research. 

This internship is a 12-week internship, during the Summer 2025 semester, taking place from May to August. Application review and interview process will take place during the Fall 24 and Spring 25 Semester. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Input corporate tax returns and related documents
  • Organize client data
  • Conduct tax analysis relating to federal to state/income tax treatment differences, changes to state attributes as a result of audits and amended returns, and changes in tax law for specific jurisdictions
  • Develop internal programs to increase efficiencies
  • Update, correct, and maintain tax attribute schedules related to the current year generation, utilization, and expiration
  • Prepare written correspondence to clients
  • Communicate with clients on an occasional basis
  • Research the various states/localities reporting requirements for filing

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with special projects
  • Provide support to Tax Consultants, Sr. Tax Consultants, Tax Managers, Sr. Tax Managers, and Directors
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels
