ElectroStatic Discharge Technician Intern

The ESD Program Control Intern is responsible assisting with verification that Digi-Key's ESD Control program is compliant to the S20.20 standard. This team ensures that the documented management system in place is effective through systematic examination and verification of ESD control items, records, documentation, and physical inspections. This team supports and maintains the ESD Control Program and supporting documents through testing, setting up of stations, and other duties as assigned.
Outcome will be reported out on lessons learned, new perspectives gained.

This is an essential onsite role and requires onsite attendance.

Responsibilities:

Area and Station set up: (Daily) Support set up or reconfigure of workstations (wiring of circuits), gain basic electrical knowledge (grounding, bonding, resistance, voltage, current), help with rewiring of pack station sliders for proper grounding, move pick floor mats to better support team members.

Compliance Verification Testing: (Daily) Aid with testing of floor tiles and shoe strap testing verification for purposes of data analysis, automation of test results, and collecting objective evidence to reduce testing frequencies and reporting to leadership.

Testing packaging materials: (Daily) Learn how and assist with testing per (ANSI/ESD S20.20) industry standards as well as generate reports of the testing. Duties include qualification and testing of materials, gaining an understanding of shielding materials for the protection of components, corrosion prevention, and experience with moisture handling and environmental data collection analysis.

 

Capstone Project:  

(Project) Defining ESD Control Procedures: Establishing and documenting standard operating procedures for ESD control.

(Project) Learning how DigiKey's ESD Program is implemented, works, and make suggestions for improvement based on research conducted throughout the duration of the internship.

(Project) Interns can assist in technical tasks such as ESD testing, data analysis, and the development of ESD protection strategies. Is there a new or different strategy the intern might be able to recommend and explain why?

Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship. 

 

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities 

Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

Pursuing a degree with the following focus: Technical, Data Analysis

 

Tools, Systems, and Software: 

Full Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams
